As an Independent Living Center, we work with people with various disabilities to live in the environments of their choice.  We offer options, resources and advocacy to help people live fulfilling lives.

The Dream Center Pantry/Despensa provides free food, clothing, and essential items to individuals and families in need. Offering fresh produce, canned goods, professional attire, and everyday wear, we strive to alleviate food insecurity and provide resources for a confident, dignified life. Our team also offers guidance on healthy eating and helps visitors find the right items to meet their needs. The entrance to the pantry/despensa is on N 15th Street. Food and clothing appointments are limited to 1 time per month.

Incorporated in 1971, the Heart of America Indian Center, Inc., d/b/a Kansas City Indian Center, operates as the Kansas City area’s only multi-purpose social service agency for American Indians.

This center helps all students get access to important services and resources that support their success. Drive-thru is open on the fourth Fridays from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Please call to confirm hours. 
 

Kansas City Steppingstone is a transitional living program that strives to help young people ages 16-21 transition safely and successfully into independence. The program is based on positive youth development strategies and provides housing, employment, education counseling, life skills training, and permanency planning.
 

KC Tenants is the citywide tenant union, an organization led by a multigenerational, multiracial, anti-racist base of poor and working class tenants in Kansas City. KC Tenants organizes to ensure that everyone in KC has a safe, accessible, and truly affordable home.
 

The Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs Office mission is to provide Kansas veterans, their relatives, and other eligible dependents with information, advice, direction, and assistance through the coordination of programs and services.

The Department for Children and Families (DCF) manages and administers the delivery of human services to the people of Kansas. DCF is the agency that steps in when children and their parents and guardians do not have other family members to support them, or when their needs are so great that family members cannot manage alone. In other cases, DCF provides temporary support to help people get back on their feet after an unexpected life event occurs.
