Program Description

Event Details

Lyda Conley, the first Indigenous woman to argue a case before the U.S. Supreme Court, defended the burials of her Wyandot family and ancestors in Kansas City’s Huron Indian Cemetery. A new biography and source reader is the definitive work on this trailblazing woman and her sisters, Ida and Helena. Join us for a book reading and panel discussion, followed by a viewing of the mobile monument Trespassers Beware!, and a tour of the cemetery with Wyandot Nation of Kansas Chief Judith Manthe. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
