Library Joy Series: Meet Elizabeth

Welcome to our Library Joy Series in honor of National Library Week! Here we are highlighting some of our amazing staff to share how and why they love what they do. Next up is Elizabeth, a Youth Services Associate at Main Library.

Why did you decide to get into Library work?

I have a really big passion for promoting early literacy and helping children develop those skills. I wanted to be a part of creating safe spaces for all, and serving the community I live in.

What is your favorite part about working for a library?

Getting to know the youth and families that come into our library. When the kids come in and right up to the desk saying "Hi, Miss Elizabeth, what's going on at the library today?" I know I'm in the right place and we are all making a difference.

Do you have a book or collections recommendation?

I really am into the picture book I Hate Everything by Sophy Henn. It sounds like a really negative title but it's not, I promise! It's super fun and it gets the kids excited.

What's a fun fact about you?

With siblings that are much older than me, I became an aunt at the age of 7! I believe that it was sparked my love for early childhood development and making children's lives brighter.

Keep checking back all week to meet more of our staff or stop by one of locations today!
