Program Description

Event Details

Tales of human dealings with The Devil have been around for centuries, whether they're from The Bible, the classic German tale of Faust, or urban legends like bluesman Robert Johnson's meeting at a crossroads.  Man's flirtation with the ultimate Boogeyman will be explored in these films ranging from horror to satire.

On this night, we will be watching William Dieterle's 1941 film "All That Money Can Buy" a.k.a. "The Devil and Daniel Webster" starring Edward Arnold, Walter Huston, and Simone Simon.

A struggling farmer in 1840 New Hampshire makes a pact with Satan for economic success, then enlists famed orator Daniel Webster to extract him from the consequences of his contract.
