Event Details

This educational program offers a comprehensive overview of viruses, how they infect the human body, and the vital role vaccines play in disease prevention. Participants will gain insight into the nature of viruses, learn about some of the most common and impactful viral infections, and explore how certain vaccines can even help prevent cancers. Special attention will be given to adult immunizations, particularly those recommended for individuals aged 65 and older, highlighting their importance in maintaining health and preventing serious illness.

About the speaker:

Dr. Smith is a distinguished physician who graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine and pioneered the practice of Infectious Diseases in Kansas City, where he led a remarkable 50-year career in the field. He is a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar and served honorably as a Captain in the United States Army. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Smith is a devoted family man, married with six children and fourteen grandchildren.
