Curious about cryptocurrency but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly talk explains the fundamentals of digital currency, including what cryptocurrency tokens are and how blockchains function. It also introduces the main types of cryptocurrencies—such as Bitcoin, altcoins, stablecoins, deposit tokens, and central bank digital currencies—so attendees can gain a solid foundation and clearer understanding of this rapidly changing field.

Speaker Bio: 

Dr. Franklin Noll is a recognized expert in monetary technology. His focus is on banknote design and production, cash usage, monetary legislation, and cryptocurrency. He is currently employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City as the Lead Payments Specialist in the Payments Strategies Group, advising Bank leadership on developments in the US and global payment systems.

Previously, he worked for over 20 years as a private consultant to the US Treasury, international agencies, and private firms on financial and monetary matters. He is an elected member of the Association of Cryptocurrency Journalists and Researchers as well as the Digital Euro Association. He is also past president of the Treasury Historical Association.
