Program Description

Event Details

Get ready to explore the wild and wonderful world of insects at Mrs. and Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library! In this hands-on homeschool adventure, we'll dive into the fascinating lifecycle of bugs—from eggs to adults—through fun, age-appropriate activities and discussions. Then, we’ll head outside for an exciting nature hike to search for some six-legged friends in their natural habitats. Bring your curiosity, a magnifying glass, and your hiking shoes—it’s time to become a backyard bug detective!

Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a refillable water bottle to our outdoor events. Stay protected, bite-free, and hydrated so you can enjoy the day comfortably.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

Please note that parents must also sign up for the event, as they count as a space. If you are bringing children who require accompaniment (under 9), it is absolutely essential that you sign them up as well to ensure proper accommodations. This helps us maintain a smooth and organized experience for all attendees.

We are pleased to offer two accessible parking spots for our attendees. In addition, our venue is equipped with an elevator for easy access to all levels. We have a hiking path that, although not paved, is accessible with the correct route. Starting at the top of the hill and descending, the path is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, which is the way we use it during programming. Please let the staff know if you need other accessibility accommodations at flsinfo@kckpl.org
