KCKPL receives a portion of its funding from the Wyandotte County Library Board. This board consists of 10 (ten) members that are appointed by the United Government of Wyandotte County Commissioners. The County Library Board has the authority to set the County Library Tax Levy.
Strategic Plan
Strategic planning is a collaborative process used to identify and take action on key priorities that will guide the Library board's activities for the coming years. It takes a look at bother internal and external forces that have or will have an impact on the libraries in the county and makes recommendations on how to address them. It is a proactive approach to identifying and accomplishing our goals based on our values and vision.
Goal 1
Develop new demographic data about the county and analyze it so that we can implement changes to processes and functions based on information gathered.
Goal 2
Facilitate focus groups to cooperate with libraries in the county to develop their strengths and help them overcome their weaknesses.
Goal 3
Set up orientation for new board members as often as necessary. New board members will be given a notebook that will contain a glossary of library terms, the history of the board, the membership list, a copy of the last minutes of the board, a list of when and where the meetings are, and any other pertinent information the board deems necessary for a new board member to have.
Goal 4
Develop a Wyandotte County Library Board Web Site that will list the board members as well as who to contact if anyone has questions. Keep the site current with legislative information that pertains to libraries in the state or Wyandotte County.
Goal 5
Establish a culture of excellence in all our libraries. Work with the libraries to recognize volunteers and everything they do for us.
Goal 6
Nurture the relationships in the libraries to serve the common interest. Let the librarians, the staff and the volunteers know who the Board members are and how to communicate with us.
