KCKPL Adult Services/Reference Department
E-Mail Reference and Referral Service
What When E-mail Form Postal Addresses What is it?
The KCKPL online reference service allows you to send our library staff reference questions by e-mail. We can provide a brief factual answer to a specific question or refer you to materials that may be of help. We are not able to provide indepth research through this service. Because of the complexity of genealogy research, we only accept these questions by regular mail. All questions will be treated with strict confidentiality.
When should I expect a response?
Our Adult Services staff members answer these questions in addition to handling their regular duties. You should receive an acknowledgment of your question within 24 hours, but we may not be able to handle all the questions we receive in a day. All questions will be reviewed and those that are accepted should receive an answer or status report within 48 hours. For better service staff may in some cases reply with a request for clarification.
Our Reference Question Mailbox is checked once a day. Questions are read and reviewed, and accepted questions will be answered or referred to another staff person with more expertise in a particular subject area. Staff will respond with a brief factual answer or a referral to other sources that may be of help.
Please use the form whenever possible. It ensures that we have all the information needed to answer your questions. If your browser does not accept forms, send your questions to: refinfo@kckpl.lib.ks.us, including all the information asked for on the form.
Questions can also be sent through the United States Postal Service:
