Jean Singer's World: Santas, Children and Animals
Oils and Pastels by Jean Singer

Kansas artist, Jean Singer, has both a life-like and impressionistic feel to her work.

Although she paints other interests, animals and children are her favorite subjects. Her early work featured them in Christmas ornaments as well as animals she painted on wooden boxes. Her rabbit hutches with a trompe l'oil style were one of her most popular pieces.

In recent years she has been commissioned to do children and pets and has captured them with great likeness. She paints in acrylic, oil and in the past year she has really taken off with pastel.

Jean usually works from a client's photo where the subject is unaware of the camera. This allows her to create a true painting--not a copy--of one's family snapshot and capture a favorite moment in time.

Jean is a member of the Southwest Pastel Society and the Degas Pastel Society. She is a 1998 and 1999 American Diabetes Christmas Card Winner.
