Peter Max Lawrence was born in 1977 in Topeka, Kansas, adopted shortly after and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. His mother is a postal worker (visual artist) and his father is a public school teacher. He has been a prolific artist in one form or another his entire life. Primarily a self-taught visual expressionist working in a variety of mediums that include painting, video, collage and performance art. Currently he is focusing on issues that concern his struggle as a gay male surviving in middle America.
