Artwork
by Inna Novikova

"After formal studies in art in former USSR I developed my style in America using acrylic paint, modeling gesso and gold foil.

Landscapes are my favorite subject and they are reflection of my inner world. I love to paint night sky full of stars and magic. My roads are life’s journey, which is exciting and complex. And just like the real life presents us with opportunities and choices my landscapes offer rolling hills, rich farmlands and vistas that suddenly open out before the audience.

I work in acrylic on modeling paste that had been textured on canvas. The process is multi-leveled and requires a lot of patience. It takes about 2 days for preparations of a canvas before I am ready to work on it in color. I use mostly primary colors. It's challenging because the palette is somewhat limited, but the image of the vibrant colors on black is exciting.

My hope is that my art will bring the same excitement and fulfillment to viewers, that I have experienced while creating it."  --Inna Novikova
