"My mode of expression through visual art has stemmed from varied experiences in my life journey. Art can not save the world, but it can help us to understand each other a little better. It can teach us otherwise difficult lessons and bring us beauty in the same stroke of the brush. It can help us to remember a more innocent time in our life and bring a smile to our face, by a simple color. I would hope that my work would help any viewer to come a little closer to the person they really want to be. Well...maybe it can change the world!"
L. A. Hanna was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Indiana University where he recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication. He recieved his Masters of Fine Arts from Miami University. Mr. Hanna worked as a freelance graphic designer before he joined the United States Army, serving in a Cartography Unit. Through his service in the army, Mr. Hanna was able to tour Europe and enjoy the art history he had studied. There he realized that "art doesn't stop at the edge of the painting, rather it encompasses all of life."
After completing his five years of service, he returned to Kansas City and worked as a Physical Education teacher. As a teacher he discovered the great expression of children. Finding Fine Art painting and photography less restrictive that commercial art, Mr. Hanna's passion for art was reignited. His audience has communicated their sense of community despite his culturally diverse subjects. He has been encouraged in his work by the positive reception from various audiences, fellow artists, and the art community.
