Prints and Paintings
by Woody Duncan

Woody Duncan has been teaching art at Rosedale Middle School in Kansas City, Kansas for over twenty years. Both Woody and his wife Fran are products of the Kansas City, Kansas school system. They have two sons who are married and live in the Kansas City area. Each summer Woody travel to Taos, New Mexico to recharge his artistic spirit. He is currently working on a graduate degree in printmaking at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

"I've always had a fascination with the art of making prints. I don't ever plan to put away my watercolors. But now I have a new love. Thanks in large part to Ed Hogan. With Ed's help I rediscovered printmaking. Especially the monoprint, for it allows an artist to gain immediate gratification. Monoprints also display the subtle nuances of color and painterly techniques a painter appreciates. For over twenty years I've been seeking a balance. My balance is between creating and teaching art. I tell my students that pulling a print is magic. Now I'm discovering the magic myself, and I'm finding a real joy in the process. I only hope my love for the process of printmaking and the subjects I choose are transmitted to those who view my work. Because art is about sharing what we love." --Woody Duncan
