Photographs by Leigh Coffman I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Kansas State University.  I spent the first five years of my career designing magazines and doing editorial and cover illustrations.  From there I went to another magazine publishing company as Art Director for Custom Communications for a year.

With the birth of our first child, I had the privilege of setting my career aside to be a full time mother.  I could pick up my career later, but I could never replace the time I would miss nurturing and molding our children.  It was during this time that I learned to think of my art not as a career, but as a ministry. 

At the present I am in my fourth year of part-time teaching Art at a Christian school. .  It is truly rewarding to be able to give back some of the inspiration that I received from my first grade teacher, Miss Petch, who said to me “Wow you’re an artist!”  That was when I decided I wanted to be an artist when I grew up.  I also owe a tremendous amount of inspiration to my high school art teacher Mrs. Ann Durham. She let me hang out for four years while she trained me and sent me off to college more prepared to study art than most of my peers. --Leigh Coffman
