Inspired by Doré
Drawings by Barbara Burton
Barbara Burton is a local Kansas City artist who began drawing in mid-2007 while inspired by Gustave Doré's art engravings from the 1800's. Most of her religious works are after Doré and are drawn in ink. Ms. Burton is a retired preschool teacher with an Associate of Arts Degree from Longview Community College. During this last year she began her small business of "Baba's Arts and Collectibles." In the near future, she plans to open this eCommerce business selling a wide range of collectibles, her artwork and greeting cards. Earlier in 2008, Ms. Burton displayed her art at Waldo's Pizza and at the Wornall Road Baptist Church in Brookside. In the fall of 2008, Ms. Burton's art was entered into the art contest at the Humansville, Missouri Fall Festival. She won first place among over 300 plus contestants. Not only does Ms. Burton enjoy drawing, but her other interests include tennis, rock collecting, singing in her church choir, playing guitar, sewing quilts and painting.
Ms. Burton says "if I can draw, anyone can." Her main objective is to share the biblical drawings with the public and to inspire others to pursue their talents. You may reach Ms. Burton by email at Babasbiz@hotmail.com or by writing Bab's Art and Collectibles, P.O. Box 140513, Kansas City, MO 64114-0513.
