Artist Statement
In this group of prints, drawings, and paintings I am experimenting with different media. Since stories are always important to me, this aspect continues to be carried on in much of my work. I enjoy suggesting a situation, then letting the viewer participate by empathizing and inventing their own scenarios.By combining media, I am able to add an element of spontaneity to the work, as I am never sure of the exact effect the combination of a wash, a bit of pastel, or collage will have. This makes the process both fun and challenging. Eventually a dialogue between the work and myself ensues and the work reveals its’ purpose to me, and I hope to the viewer.
I love color and the optical illusion of vibration and movement. I want my subjects to have life.
